Evening all..
Removed a symbiotik dia from a 288 today, with the Altec part number 21600.
It is an older style bakelite phram.. DCR of 11.7.
Any ideas as to its original model? I cannot see it anywhere in all the reference charts I have.

Unless that is the 24 ohm version of the symbiotik??
I have never seen a 24 ohm Symbiotik. Of course, i have not seen everything.
My guess is somebody kept blowing frams and substituted the higher powered one. Part numbers, especially in that time period, were often changed for very minor changes. Sometimes even just a material supplier change. Reason? How do you track a company selling inferior quality? By part number. If a certain part failed, you could go back to an old supplier. Altec was pinching pennies in the 70's.
